Update! January 28th, 2013

Every Monday starting today, I will be doing a video highlighting my favourite poems (written by the people I follow) from the previous week as well as reading the most popular of the poems that I had posted through the previous week. The poems will be selected from my reader and in the information below the video I will give you all links to the poems pages. I won’t be reading them out loud, but I will be mentioning them.

I will be recording the reading of one of my poems just as audio, which will then be followed directly by the video update. The video update will also give you little updates about what I’m doing outside of writing, and give you all a little bit of insight into the everyday happenings of my life.

The first one will be going up tonight after I get home from work so look forward to it!

-Alex H.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get a physical copy of any of Robert Frost’s books, please let me know.

Edit: January 29th, 2013

Okay so I thought I had my recording equipment set up properly, but apparently I didn’t. I got the reading recorded, so I’ll record the video tonight (Tuesday) and post it either later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

A Request

So this is a simple request. I need 5 people who like poetry. Who are willing to read/proofread 10 poems and give me honest opinions and feedback on it while keeping the poem a complete secret.

If you’re interested, please let me know. I have no incentive for anyone to do this, and if I don’t get any volunteers I’ll just be giving to my friends to read, but it would be nice to have people giving me feedback who won’t be too concerned about making me feel bad.

If you’re interested, you can leave a comment here or you can e-mail me at:
poetryfrommymind@gmail.com

Thanks,
-Alex H.

Update #8: Sick, Sicker, Fine, Sick Again

Ugh, this cold will be the death of me. Just as I was starting to feel better, I wake up this morning and feel like I was run over by a bus. Sucks.

“Uhhhhhhhh yeah. I may add more to this post tomorrow, right now nyquil is making me forget…words..and other….things. goodnight.” – Alex H., 10:30pm on October 16th, 2012, while doped up on NyQuil.

Feel Free to quote that. LOL.

This is me adding to it.

So, I made a deviant art account to also get my poetry out there. I’ll link it here as well as on facebook.
Facebook
DeviantArt
Facebook

And with that, WOW. 35 Followers! I love you guys. When I started this I never thought I’d even reach 20 followers, nevermind 35!

And I know there are a few people who read each of my posts when I share them on facebook. Thanks to you as well. If it weren’t for having people wanting to read my work, I probably wouldn’t write.

And I know its a little late, but I’m going to be going to all of my followers blogs this week and thanking each and every one of you personally. Again, you guys are awesome.

I promised my roommate and her sister that I would stop writing sad poetry, I’m sure there will be the occasional sad poem, but for the most part I’m done with them. I’m currently a tad bit drawn between ideas about work, but its not serious enough to write a poem about.

Ok, that’s it for now, I’ll post the next poem after work.

Thank you everyone!

-Alex H.

Update!

Time for an update!

First, holy crap! 16 Followers! That’s 16 more followers than I thought I’d get! Thank you to everyone who comments and likes and follows me/things I post. I am in your debt. I initially created this blog to show my poetry to my closest friends who I invited to the site. After 3 weeks of me posting and none of them wanting to read anything, I decided to open it to the public eye. just over 2 weeks later, I have 16 followers and lots of views! It has been a huge boost to my self-esteem and it has encouraged me to write more. Thank you everyone.

Second, I will start reading my poems and posting it on YouTube probably around the middle of October. All of my recording equipment is currently packed for moving on October 1st, so once I get moved in and set up, I’ll start recording and adding relevant images/music to the poems. I also intend to create my own music to put in the videos. Should be an interesting attempt.

Third! I’m thinking about writing one poem a day for a year. Topics are one thing I am not short of for poetry, and I love writing. Suggest ideas and other things that might help with that.

And finally, I welcome all constructive criticism on anything I write. The more I have the better my poems will be in the long run so if you notice something I could improve on, speak up!

Thanks again!

-Alex H.

P.S. I need a good suggestion for a title for the blog. Poet’s Brain isn’t really all that great because poetry comes from the heart first the brain second.
